“Having Fun” and “Hanging Out”

Hello Blog,

Long time no blog! It’s hard to believe that it’s already MARCH (i.e. close to the halfway mark for the semester). I’ve always found that the spring semester goes much faster than the fall semester, but when it’s your last semester of college, it seems like it’s flying by even faster!

People have been asking me a lot if I’m sad to be graduating, and I think the best way to answer that question is to say that I just don’t want this semester to end. To be completely honest, I do not want to start another semester of college, so I’m glad that I’m graduating, but I don’t want graduation to come any time soon (if that makes sense).

I feel like this semester I have the perfect balance of academic rigor, club involvement, and time with my friends, so I’m just trying to soak it up. My friends and I have been making an effort to hang out more in the evenings, because it’s truly so nice to live so close to all your friends. I am trying my best to live up to the words on my 2025 moodboard of “having fun” and “hanging out.”

Mood board again, for reference

For example, last week my friends and I went to Cambridge to see Harvard’s Hasty Pudding Theatricals yearly performance on a Tuesday (!!). We had press pass tickets (my friend writes for the Wellesley News), and I’ll admit, I usually don’t have time on a Tuesday to give up an entire evening, but it’s our senior year! My friends and I also have also seen these very strange (comedy musical) shows for the past 2 years, so it’s tradition at this point. It was delightful and we got frozen yogurt afterwards at my favorite spot in Cambridge, because frozen yogurt shops are a dying breed, and we must do what we can to support their business.

I haven’t been on campus during the weekends very much recently, and it feels like I’m running out of weekends, so here are 3 places I want to go/things I want to do before the semester ends (and maybe you can adopt some items onto your own personal Wellesley/Boston bucket list). I guess I’ll check back near the end of the semester and see if I’ve accomplished these:

  1. Go to a BSO concert: There’s a $30 student pass that students can buy, so I’m hoping to either use this or just see a show. The area around Symphony Hall has some great food, so it’s a great lunch + afternoon matinee or a classic evening dinner + a show plan. I also love the Celebrity Series of Boston because they also have student rush tickets for $20 sometimes (or there’s a $35 under 35 program) and they always have some really cool artists
  2. Go on a long, luxurious, walk around Lake Waban: One of the things I’m going to miss most about Wellesley is the campus. When it gets a little warmer out, the full lake path will open. It’s also a classic move to take lots of pictures on a lake walk because it’s so beautiful, but I want to go for a walk without any technology (don’t worry, it’s very difficult to get lost).
  3. See a movie in a real theater in boston: The Brattle Theater in Cambridge (close to the Loco stop at Harvard) is at the top of my list. I am honestly not a movie person, but my friend is, so as an act of kindness to her, I think we will see a movie together.

Educating myself on movies at the CMS (chamber music society) E-board bonding, which was watching the Oscars on Sunday night 🙂

Until next time,
