Hi blog, welcome to my page! I’ll be regularly posting weekly recaps for the next few months as I work in the Wellesley Admissions Office this summer. In my first ever post, I’ll be introducing myself and sharing a few pictures from my first ever summer in Massachusetts!
My name is Avery, and I grew up in Arizona. However, I claim Boston with my entire heart—hence why I very strategically chose this on-campus internship, which allows me to stay right next to Boston for the entire summer. 😉 I just finished my first year at Wellesley College, which makes me a rising sophomore and part of the class of 2027. I immediately got involved with as many things as possible on campus and ended up joining 13 clubs during my first semester. (Whoops.) However, I very quickly narrowed down my extracurricular interests by my second semester. Outside of class, I act as Co-President for my class, Social Chair for Agora, the political society, and I am a participating member in affinity orgs like Ethos in Wellesley for Caribbean Development. Academically, I am a prospective psychology & sociology double major at Wellesley. I plan to focus my master’s degree or Ph.D. towards industrial and organizational psychology through the DEI lens in graduate school.
You might deduce through my aforementioned extracurriculars and career goals that I most likely love interacting with and being with people! And this would totally be true! I’ve been described as an extrovert my entire life. I love being in big crowds and going on adventures that allow me to meet new people and try new things!
I also have a super-human twin brother who loves to run *at least* 14 miles every single day just for fun. He goes to a college that is just a train ride away from me, so I had the privilege of seeing him throughout our first years at college. My favorite memory with him was teaching him how to use the commuter rail so I could take him out to Easter Brunch this past spring.
In regards to my first ever Massachusetts summer, I’ve had a very successful and fun time! I went to New York City for the first time ever and got to see some pretty cool art at The Met.
I’m a big fan of museums so my friends and I spent over 4 hours looking at all of the paintings and sculptures. I’ve been exploring even more of Boston, and I got to take some new friends out to brunch a couple weeks after classes ended!
Overall, I’ve had a wonderful first year in college, and I’m so excited to keep trying new things and meeting new people!
