Welcome back to the Blog! One of my favorite things about going to college near Boston is the public transportation. I come from an area in the South where there are very few trains and no subways, so I’m grateful for the Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority (MBTA). These last few weeks I’ve been exploring Boston a good bit, and I think I’ve taken the subway more this summer than the last two years. I will definitely keep utilizing it during the school year. For this blog, I’m going to discuss and rate some of the T stops I’ve visited recently.
First, Wellesley Square: 8/10. It’s the commuter rail stop closest to Wellesley and is only a 7 minute bike ride from my dorm. I use this stop all the time, and it’s only flaw is that it took me a couple months to understand which track was for each train because they do switch.
Lansdowne: 7/10. This is the commuter rail stop closest to Fenway Park and where I go when I climb in Boston. It’s also close to the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum. You get an awesome view into the city when you go over the tracks, and I’ve taken many sunset photos from here.
Riverside: 6.6/10. The Green Line ends here closest to Wellesley at about 3.8 miles from campus. There is also a bus line that runs from here. To bike here, you do have to go near and over the highway which isn’t ideal.

Aquarium: 8.5/10. I took this line to connect to the Green Line after leaving the aquarium last week. This stop is very close to the harbor and on the blue line. It also had the iconic subway tile in the shape of aquatic creatures.

Fenway: 8/10. It’s near an outdoor flea and farmers market that I’m planning on visiting this weekend, so I’ll keep y’all updated on if I find anything cool. Somehow, I always get there when there is a Red Sox game or other event. Last week, there was a Noah Kahan concert in the Baseball stadium so it was busy.
Harvard Square: 8/10. This stop is on the Red Line and near lots of things in Cambridge. My favorite Cambridge spots are the Friendly Toast, Flour Cafe, and the Harvard Book Store.
This stop is also near the Charles River and the esplanade, so I’ve used it to go run in Boston.

St. Mary’s Street: 9/10. This is part of the Green Line that goes into Brookline. I had never visited Brookline until a few weeks ago, but it’s so nice. I went to the Brookline Booksmith and a cafe called Kyo Matcha, where I got soft serve ice with vanilla and matcha. I also love that this part of the Green Line is above ground so you can watch Brookline go by.

I really love the MBTA, and while I was writing this blog I got to look at all the merchandise they sell. They have everything from baby onesies to decommissioned MBTA signs to shower curtains. Public transit has been so fun to learn about at Wellesley.
