Last Week at Wellesley!

This is my final blog post of the summer! It is very bittersweet to know that this internship is coming to an end and that I’ll be going home in just a few days (though I will be returning the week after for my fall semester). This summer has been such a valuable experience; from leading tours on campus and learning about admissions and sharing stories with prospective students, I’ve grown incredibly within the last few months. I’ve loved getting to meet and know so many amazing people—shoutout especially to my fellow interns, Sofía, Anjola, Rachel, and Chelsea (who has already left us for Copenhagen)! I truly am so grateful they came into my life.

I thought I’d wrap up my last blog by talking about my last week at Wellesley and what I’ve been getting up to on and off campus! My friends and I have spent the majority of our free time at Lake Waban at Wellesley and at the esplanade by the Charles River in Boston! I love sitting by the water with the people I love and contemplating life. It’s got to be one of my favorite activities.

Last weekend I went to Fenway Flea with Cami and Abi, two of my Wellesley friends, an outdoor open market in Boston featuring vintage clothes, jewelry, and art. After browsing (and buying a few things!) we got frozen yogurt at Saloniki, a Greek food place, and made our way to the esplanade to sit at the dock. We meant to take the commuter rail back in at around 4pm, but ended up staying by the water to talk for hours. A guy next to us was playing music on his speaker (good music!!)—which we were eternally grateful for even if it did make us lose track of time.

It is such a beautiful thing to live at Wellesley and be able to visit the city and come home to our secluded forest campus; after spending the day out in Boston, we got to our dorm and watched music videos while eating pizza we ordered. Abi, Cami, and I are all living in Munger in the fall, with Cami and I living just a few doors down from each other.

The next day we spent at Lake Waban, going to my favorite spoon at Tupelo Point. We sat by the water, swam, and ate some chocolate that Cami had bought for us to share.

Later that evening, we went back into Boston for dim sum in Chinatown, got some boba at Heytea on Newbury (which Abi had been raving about forever—and it lived up to the hype!!), and, of course, returned to the esplanade.

This week, I also went back into Boston with Abi and my friend Idie. We ate soup dumplings at Nan Xiang Express in Chinatown, wandered through Boston Common, and once again ended up at the esplanade—this time catching an outdoor orchestra performance of La Mer by Claude Debussy. It was incredibly beautiful. We even stumbled upon Brattle Book Shop, where one of the scenes from The Holdovers was filmed, which sent Abi into complete shock.

Other things I’ve done this week include going to Tupelo Point at sunset, playing the organ in the chapel with friends, and decorating my room! It’s been a very beautiful last few days at Wellesley, and I am incredibly grateful that I will be returning, even if summer is coming to an end.

This has been such a beautiful way to end my summer, and while it’s hard for me to say goodbye to this chapter (this has easily been one of the best summers of my life!) I’m already looking forward to everything that’s ahead in the fall semester. I’m excited to continue working at the Office of Admission and to reunite with my favorite people, but I can’t help reflecting on how much these past few months have shaped me—through the people I’ve met, the places I’ve been lucky to explore, and the moments I’ve shared with friends. This is my last blog post, but thank you if you’ve been following along!  If you want to reach me and ask me any questions, feel free to email askastudent@wellesley.edu

Wishing you all the best!
