Hello everyone!
Before I start explaining my Spotify Wrapped to you, let me say that music plays a huge part of my life on campus. Whether it is when I’m walking to class with headphones on, chilling with YouTube music on in my room, or simply studying in the library with Spotify in the background, different songs play in the background at all times.
Before I move on, here is my Spotify Wrapped:
I know that it looks really basic, but I really expected that—general pop is the best genre for me to study to. Take Panic! At The Disco for example. I specifically remember just streaming their entire discography at the end of the last semester in the spring. Their songs are kind of more fast paced, which reflected my mood back then. Because last spring was the first semester when I was graded in my courses, I think that last spring was the most and the hardest I have ever studied in my life (also, I was taking 4 STEM classes, two of them being labs, which I really don’t recommend unless you really have to do it). Because of that, I associate their music with long afternoons in the library and the biggest stream of motivation I have ever felt.
Taylor Swift and Olivia Rodrigo shouldn’t be surprising for anyone who knows anything about Wellesley’s culture. Wellesley is probably the campus with the most Taylor Swift fans per square meter throughout the country. People here are obsessed with her in general, and I feel like this semester really pushed me to listen to her music more than I have listened to her before. With Olivia Rodrigo, I feel like my connection is a bit stronger (even though she is behind Taylor Swift on the list) because 1) I have been a fan of hers even before Driver’s License came out (I swear!), and 2) I was listening to one of her songs, “brutal,” when I got my Wellesley acceptance letter.
Imagine Dragons I expected to see on there because ever since I went to their concert back home, I have been streaming their music. I associate their music with friends back home, as well as friends here. My roommate and I have the tendency to play music out loud in the room, and ever since I told her about the concert, she has been listening to them too. So, if you ever come around Tower Court, take a turn around the first floor, and hear their music from behind one of the doors, you have probably found us.
Connan Grey is an artist I started listening to very recently. While Panic! At The Disco reflects my study mood last semester, Connan Grey represents it this semester. I haven’t been as intense about studying this semester as I was in the spring, so I have been listening to softer sounding music as a background. His songs also better reflect the weather around New England this semester, and provide a better soundtrack for my walks around here.
That’s it from me for this week! Stay safe!
