My 21st Birthday: A Day Full of Love, Laughter, and Little Joys

Greetings my lovely readers! This past Saturday was one for the books because……your girl officially turned 21!!! 🥳 Honestly, I still can’t believe it — part of me feels like very grown lmaoo, while the other part of me still wants to be in bed watching Netflix instead of being a real adult. Mind you guys I have literally been telling all my friends that I cannot wait to be grown, and now it’s here I am still getting to grips with it (I am being dramatic again y’all 😭). But anyway, my two bigs completely surprised me with the cutest day in Boston, and it was just everything!

First, we started the day off in this really cute cafe spot called ‘Thinking Cup’ on Newbury Street. We were all kinda hungry because we had gotten up early so we could spend as much time as possible in the city, so we needed some fuel. Y’all know the drill by now…..yes I did in fact start my birthday off with yummy food 😊. I got a breakfast sandwich with eggs, cheese, bacon and sausage. Y’all it was 10/10!!! It was also piping hot as well, which just made it ten times better. It was definitely a great way to kick off the day! So once we were done, we headed to our first location of the day. For context y’all, I had no clue where we were going. I spent the whole morning trying to guess, but my bigs were like we are not going to tell you, just trust us! I was like okay, I will just wait to be amazed lmaoo…..

Fast forward like 5 minutes and we arrived at this amazing perfume factory……y’all when I tell you I was gagged I promise I am not exaggerating. I literally stood in front of the door in shock 😂. Another thing to know about me is I love my scents. I am a huge lover of perfumes and just the overall aesthetic of having an extensive perfume collection means I smell good 24/7 (and trust me y’all this has been confirmed by those around me, I am not just gassing myself up here lol). So when we got in, the first step was to choose our base….we were met with a line of different scents, and we each had to choose the one that we liked the most so it could be used as the foundation of our perfume. I truly was in my element y’all, I was honestly so excited throughout the whole process. I felt like a fancy little scientist (but make it aesthetic). There were so many bottles and notes to choose from that I was overwhelmed in the best way possible. We got to then add multiple other scents, so we could build our perfumes more and find the perfect match. It was such an amazing experience!! I had never done something like that before so I had the best time getting to do something which is so on brand for me. So, I ended up with something warm, floral, and a little sweet — very “me,” if I do say so myself. My bigs also went with some very floral and fruity scents so it is safe to say we all left smelling like a pint of fresh-picked berries 🍒.

Another really cool element of the whole experience was we got to pick the colour of the bottle that our perfume would go in once it had been made AND we also got to pick an original name for our scents ☺️. I ended up picking “PEACH SKIN” as my signature name for my scent since my perfume had a really nice peach aroma that was coming through. I was gonna pick something a lot more elaborate, but the 9 character limit really said no that’s not happening lmaoo. Nonetheless I was so overjoyed by the experience. I mean what’s in a name honestly??? Every time I spray it now, I get hit with a little memory of that perfect morning. I can definitely say my 21st is part of the top 5 experiences I have had with my friends since starting Wellesley! I have included some pictures below for y’all to have a look at :).

I took these two pictures while we were inside the perfume factory. All the base scents were lined across the walls so we got to try all the different scents and decide what our first layer would be!

So here, we were sat at the table with the perfumist and we were working through building up our perfumes with more fragrances. Each little sample tester that y’all see in the image were part of the tests we did to figure out what we wanted to add.

Our perfumes once they had been made!! It was so exciting getting to see the final product after we had chosen the names and also picked the colour we wanted for our bottle. Genuinely one of the best experiences I have ever had 🙂

After that, we headed to Fire + Ice, which is this hibachi-style restaurant where you basically build your own stir-fry and watch it come to life right in front of you. The vibes were immaculate — the sizzling pans, the laughter, the food that somehow tasted even better because of the company. My bigs were hyping me up the whole time, and it was truly just an amazing celebration of friendship and good food.

My first plate of hibachi…yes I did have multiple lmaoo. This was my first time going to a hibachi restaurant and it was amazing, so I am definitely going back soon 🙂

And of course, we had to end the day with dessert — because what’s a birthday without something sweet? We made our way to the North End for tiramisu and cannolis (you already know how I feel about desserts guys, I don’t even have to explain 🥹). Sitting there, laughing with my bigs, trying not to spill espresso on my outfit, I couldn’t help but feel so, so grateful.

It wasn’t a huge, flashy birthday — but it was perfectly me. A day full of love, laughter, and little moments that I’ll hold onto forever. The whole day was genuinely the best 21st birthday that I could have hoped for 🥹.

So that was how I started the day not knowing what my bigs had planned, and ended up designing my own perfume, eating some really tasty hibachi, and finishing it all off with cannolis in the North End. BEST DAY EVER — no notes. Thank y’all for joining me this week for a fun filled (very sappy) blog about my birthday ! I hope y’all enjoyed reading about my special day. I can’t wait to catch up with y’all soon, and in the meantime, I hope you all get to celebrate yourselves — big or small — in ways that make your heart feel warm and full 💕.

See you soon, loveliesss!
With love,
Your favourite Brit x ♥️
