No scones, no Queen, but plenty of charm—your favourite British Admission intern has entered the chat.

Greetings lovely readers! Welcome to the journey that is my life as a student at Wellesley College! Let’s kick off with some info about myself, so you get to learn more about who I am as I write to you guys every week. My name is Anjola, and this summer I am working in the Admission Office as an Admission Summer Intern! I’m a rising junior, majoring in psychology and minoring in education (pre-med track). I was originally born in Laurel, Maryland, but I moved to the UK when I was around 2 years old and have lived there ever since! So you could say I truly am a Brit through and through. From the really ‘posh’ accent to my deep love for beans on toast, I am definitely a Brit at heart! A big part of my identity stems from my African heritage, specifically being of Nigerian descent. I can truly say that my diverse background has been my superpower at Wellesley. I have formed friendships with such amazing people and have found a community that I couldn’t have even imagined finding before I started college.

So I know you may be thinking what do you do aside from school…well I’ll tell you! During the academic year, I work in the Admission Office as an Admission Student Ambassador (ASA for short :). This past year, I was on two executive boards at Wellesley. I served as the philanthropy chair of WASA (Wellesley African Students Association), where I did work with Wellesley alums and fundraising for the organisation. I also served as both the senator and secretary for ETHOS (Wellesley’s Black Student Union). In this role, I was in charge of attending weekly senate meetings with the college government and making sure that the voices and opinions of the members within ETHOS were being heard. I was also in charge of taking weekly meeting notes at our E-Board meetings, to ensure the board was well informed of what needed to be done to make sure we were working efficiently to be able to provide great and inclusive programming for the larger community. Last but not least, I work at the Davis Museum, which is our amazing on campus museum (Fun Fact: It was one of the first college museums in the United States to focus on educating students and the public through its collections and exhibitions). At Davis, I am a student visitor assistant coordinator (SVA for short, we have a lot of acronyms at Wellesley :). There I oversee a team of student employees who focus on customer care, visitor experience and management of customer etiquette while interacting with the exhibitions and collections!

Last year, I was one of six Orientation Coordinators. Here is a picture of our amazing team! We had just finished a rehearsal for the routine we were going to perform during the New Student Orientation Welcome 🦋❤️‍🔥

This was of course a very quick snapshot into who I am, you lovely readers will get to learn more about every week through my posts. Now that you know a bit more about me, I can’t wait to share all the adventures, insights, and maybe a few cheeky tea breaks along the way. Wellesley’s campus has truly become my home, and I’m thrilled to invite you to join me on this journey. So buckle up, grab your cup of tea (or coffee, if that’s your thing), and let’s dive into the wonderful world of Wellesley together! I look forward to sharing more with you guys next week!

With Love,

Your Favourite Brit
