Thanksgiving break came and went, but it left me with memories to savor and energy to carry me through the whirlwind of finals season. This year, I was lucky to experience something truly special: a trip to the Dominican Republic with my boyfriend’s family. It was the perfect mix of adventure, connection, and rejuvenation, and I couldn’t be more grateful.
The Beauty of the Dominican Republic
The Dominican Republic was like stepping into a postcard. The turquoise waters, white sandy beaches, and swaying palm trees set the stage for a dream getaway. I soaked up the sun, swam in the crystal-clear ocean, and even got to try some local dishes that were as vibrant as the scenery. Between morning runs along the beach and afternoons filled with laughter, I felt like I had hit the pause button on life—a much-needed escape from the rhythm of senior year.
Family Time and Heartfelt Moments
While the Dominican Republic was breathtaking, the highlight of the week was quality time with loved ones. Sharing meals, stories, and experiences with my boyfriend’s family created bonds and memories that I’ll cherish. Back home, I also managed to squeeze in visits with my own family and friends, attending my brother’s rugby match and cheering on my sister at her field hockey game. Walks with my dogs provided quiet moments to reflect and appreciate the comforts of home.
A Reset for Finals Season
More than just a vacation, this break was a reset. It reminded me how important it is to step back and recharge, especially before the marathon of finals season. The mental clarity and positivity I brought back from this trip have already helped me approach my work with a renewed sense of focus and motivation.
As I dive back into the last weeks of the semester, I feel grounded and ready. Finals season is always intense, but with the warmth of Thanksgiving memories fresh in my mind and the promise of winter break on the horizon, I know I can take on whatever comes my way.
Here’s to finishing strong and holding onto the gratitude that this break inspired! Let’s finish this season together!
Until next week,
