Hello Blog,
Surprise – I took my exam, turned in my paper, and survived my performance! The work truly always gets done. Now that I’ve made it out the other side, this week has been pretty chill!
On Friday, we had a carillon masterclass with a professor of carillon from another college. I played a movement of the Bach cello suites (my favorite movement – the gigue from the 3rd suite) on the bells. We have a lot of freedom for what we choose to play, so I can work on Bach, Hozier, and the Gilmore Girls theme song all at once.
This weekend, my friend and I went to the Natick mall for a bit of a silly outing. I grew up in the area, and the Natick mall was where everyone went in middle school, so it’s funny to see college students there now. Nevertheless, do not underestimate the magic of mall food court food and a giant Christmas tree in mid-October.
My friends and I have been cooking together a lot, so I end up eating most of my dinners in the Munger kitchen. Munger is one of the dorms in “the Quint” on the west side of campus. It’s closest to Pomeroy Hall (we call it Pom!), where I live this year, and it’s where most of my friends are living (there are a lot of singles for juniors and seniors). One of our friends is currently studying abroad in Oxford for the year, so we called her on WhatsApp while we ate and caught up.
Finally, I’ve been spending a lot of time with the Chamber Music Society Eboard because we recently had a boba fundraiser and are preparing for a spooky sight reading event! We have all four class years represented in Eboard, so it’s a really great way to meet people. When I was an underclassmen, the upperclassmen on Eboard were super kind and welcoming to me, so I’m really trying to do the same for underclassmen as the president this year. After our meeting this week, some of us stayed behind and just talked for an hour, which was so lovely.
Stay tuned for a Halloweekend update next week 🤫
Until next time,
Jade <3
