So long, Edinburgh

Hey everyone!

Welcome to my last blog post from Scotland and the last one before I am back in Wellesley in January. It has honestly been a wild ride. I have met so many amazing people that I am going to miss, I have visited so many interesting and beautiful places, and I have learned so much about Scotland and the Scottish culture and history. At the same time though, I have also felt overwhelmed and lonely, and I have struggled with adapting to the academic life here. But that’s what studying abroad is supposed to be. I am happy to say that the good things have definitely outweighed the not so good ones, and I am really glad and thankful to have had this opportunity.

In line with my post from last week, here’s a short list of some of the things that I am going to miss about my semester abroad:

1 – All the amazing people I met here. It probably goes without saying, but finding your people is so important when you move to a new place, so I am really grateful for all the people that made this experience unforgettable.

2 – The amazing city. Edinburgh is genuinely one of the most beautiful cities I have ever seen in my life, and I am going to miss wandering around its streets.

A castle covered in snow up on a hill.

3 – The Christmas market. Do I even need to add an explanation?

Winter lights and a ferris wheel at a Christmas market.

4 – The opportunities for traveling. I have had the chance to visit the Scottish Highlands, Glasgow, Dublin, and London since I came here, and I am going to miss having the ability to explore and travel around.

London!

Glasgow!

I am also currently in my finals exam period of the year. I just did my first final exam, so only three more to go, yay! I have been fully in the zone this whole week, so the second I finish with this blog post, I will be heading over to the library to continue studying for my quantum mechanics exam on Saturday. Speaking of, can you imagine that the exams here can be during the weekend!? I have also started the long process of packing. I don’t even know how I have so many things, we’ll have to see if they will fit in my suitcase. I have bought SO MANY souvenirs, so I will probably have to sacrifice some clothes to fit them in. Something random: I have decided to start collecting postcards from the places I visit. I might show you a photo of my collection next year when I organize them better at home.

So, yeah. I guess that’s it from me for this week and for the semester. I hope you all have fun over the holidays! See you next year!
