Spring Semester Round Up

Hi all,

WOW! It has been a year since we last chatted! (Haha, get it 😆) But really, I have missed chatting with you all. I figured we could do a good old fashioned get to know me post with some updated course schedules and what it is like to now be in season for lacrosse!

As for my academics, I am currently enrolled in five courses for this semester. A typical course load at Wellesley is four courses, but three classes is able to count as a full-time load. Below are my courses with a brief description:

[AMST 116] Asian American Fiction: In this class, we read numerous texts by Asian American authors. I have really enjoyed this because I don’t usually read novels, and this has been a great chance to read for both class and enjoyment.

[EDUC 214] Ecologies of Education: Community, Youth and Power: This course focuses on the intersection between people’s identities and their experiences in the education/school system. So far this class has been so enjoyable and an eye-opening experience.

[EDUC 234] Children’s Literature: This course is brand new this semester and has already blown me away. As the name suggests, we look at numerous types of children’s books and the audiences they are catered to. It has been very interesting to see the inequalities in what groups are represented and who are not.

[EDUC 245] The Politics of Multilingualism: In this class we discuss the effects of colonization and the value put on some languages in different settings over others. It has been so interesting to read policy pertaining to language and its effects in the school systems.

[PSYC 329R] Research Methods in Psychology of Sexuality: This is one of my final courses needed to complete my psychology major. In this class we will be conducting our own research studies over the course of the semester.

I hope this has given a little glimpse into my academic life at the moment! I also am a psychology and educational studies major, which is why I am taking so many educational studies courses this semester. More fun will be coming next week!

Until next week,

Anna Tutek
