Hi everyone!
Guys, I think the Slater Culture Show went really well?!? I think at least. It is a very weird experience to be backstage: you can’t really hear what is being said on stage even if you are standing right next to the stage behind the curtains, and you can’t really see or hear the audience. The first thing was okay since I had already seen the performances during the rehearsals I led the days leading up to the show. Guys, everyone was so good! People at this school are so talented; it’s so amazing to watch them!

The second part was also okay: the audience at Wellesley is always supportive, and you can definitely count on them to be supportive and fill up any awkward pauses. And believe me, there were awkward pauses. The biggest problem that happened was that the sound wouldn’t play for one of the performers, and I had to make the decision to pull out the next performers, switch the order of performances, and run across the stage to where the person with the projector was to figure out how to play the sound. It was a lot, but I was weirdly calm during the show. After it, I definitely had a mini breakdown, but thankfully all of my friends were there to cheer me up and give me reassurance that it went fine.

Besides that, there have been a lot of fun events at Wellesley in general these past two weeks. I went to the Freestyle showcase (they are the big hip-hop dance group on campus for more advanced dancers; they are genuinely amazing and their shows are always so fun!) and to a henna event and a karaoke event at Slater. I really enjoyed them because I feel like they bring us all closer together as a community.

My friend’s PE class participated in Freestyle’s showcase!

That’s it for me this week. This weekend is Formula 1’s finale, and I am really excited (and stressed) about it. You will hear about it next week if my favorite driver wins. If he doesn’t…you probably won’t hear me talk about Formula 1 again this semester. So, yeah, see you next week!
