The Unofficial Guide to Wellesley Lingo (Part 2!)

Hello wonderful, gorgeous people!!!!

I have most certainly missed our little chapters on Wellesley lingo!!! Grab something to write with and let’s continue our journey!!!!!!!!! Today we will cover dorms!

2. Dorms – on campus we have residential blocks such as Quint, Tower, Bates (or east side). Stone-Davis is an individual dorm and is not part of any residential complex which is why none of the students know if it belongs to the East Side or West Side.

A. Quint – 5 dorms with Munger being slightly isolated from the rest of the Quint. All of the Quint residents have to eat outside of their residential complex in Lulu Chow Wang Campus Center, to be exact. Lulu has an option of open late night dining until 10 pm, which is honestly so cool!

i. Cazenove – Caz

Caz is my summer dorm. I really like the vibes and the fact that Caz and Pom are connected, and I don’t have to go outside if I want to visit my friend (:p)

ii. Pomeroy – Pom

Pom has a mascot of Pomegranate!!! (Isn’t that adorable?????)

iii. Munger

Munger!

Munger is where I lived my first year. Definitely not my favorite dorm since I didn’t really like the location; however, I really liked how small and cozy it was there! Also, the mascot Mungi the Fungi and our newsletter, Munger Minute, were some of my favorite things about my experience.

iv. Beebe

Beebe has the identity of a rebellious pirate, and I will be living there next semester which I am very excited about.

v. Shafer

Shafer is just Shafer. I know nothing about it lol.

B. Tower – 3 dorms (unofficially?). All the Tower residents can eat in the Tower dining hall which is halal and nut-sensitive.

Tower!

i. Tower Court – Tower

TOWERRRR!!!!!!! I love this place. Tower aesthetics are that of gothic medieval times. BEST PLACE TO READ FRANKENSTEIN DURING THE WINTER AT MIDNIGHT!!!!!!!!!!!

ii. Claflin

It has Claflin bakery!!!!

iii. Severance – Sev

A lot of people in my year liked Sev. I was there only once for the spice competition, which was so fun, though all of the spices made a comeback later in the evening.

iv. Lake House

I believe Scoop, one of our sustainability organizations, has the entire kitchen there where they cook their own food and have fun! And the dorm has a beautiful view on the Lake.

C. Stone-Davis – Stone D or just Stone

I consider Stone D to be the black sheep in the family of res halls since it is right in the middle between the east side and the west side. It has a Kosher, vegan, and vegetarian dining hall.

i. Freeman

One of my unofficial bigs lived here. I really like the layout of this dorm.

ii. Bates

Has its dining hall with gluten-free options and amazing made-out-of-scratch gelato by one of the staff members we endearingly call “gelato lady.”

iii. McAfee

HAS ONE OF MY FAVOURITE STUDY SPOTS!! McAfee common room ilysm…

E. Casa Cervantes – or Spanish house

These last two houses are for students who want to practice their language skills in a housing environment. I heard it’s super helpful with speaking and listening skills!!!
