WC (Wellesley College): Welcome to My Crib

Hello Blog,

That’s right. It’s dorm tour time. This year, I’m living in a single in Pomeroy (Pom) Hall. This means for the first time in my Wellesley experience I am without my former roomie and dear friend Anabelle </3. It’s all good though, because she has her own single in the next dorm over (Munger) where most of my friends are living this year. I live on the west side of campus in a residential community known as “The Quint”. It’s named this because it consists of 5 dorms: Caz, Beebe, Shafer, Pom, and Munger – each with their own themes and quirks. Pom is appropriately pomegranate themed 🙂

A stately room with a large carpet, several tables and couches, and tall bright windwos.

As I have mentioned before, my absolutely favorite part of my room is my window. First, it’s giant. My room gets incredible sunlight, and I can see the sun rise and set from my bed. Throw in $5 sheer Ikea curtains, iridescent origami cranes, a disco ball, and I’m sold. It’s amazing how much a little bit of DIY decor can do for a dorm room. My favorite time of day is when the sun hits my disco ball and the light goes all over my room.

Look at that!!!

I’m not a big fan of overhead lighting, so I have a few lamps throughout the room. Fun fact: most of the little lamps I have throughout the room I got for free. At Wellesley, near the end of the year, people will leave items they don’t have room to pack or are ready to part with in common areas. This can be anything from appliances to lights and rugs to lots of clothes. I’m a big fan of thrifting, so one of my favorite finals de-stressing events is visiting the different dorms on campus to see what they have to offer.

The next corner of my room has my couch, mini fridge, food cart, and prized collage wall. I’m thinking about getting a small rug because people spend a lot of time sitting on my floor. My friends and I have started hosting weekly poker nights every Sunday night in my room to regroup before the new week starts. My collage wall is quintessential college dorm room decor and took me about 3 hours to assemble when I moved in. It has a lot of postcards and posters/prints I’ve gotten from Wellesley. There are also prints, bookmarks, ticket stubs, and miscellaneous items from places my friends and I have been together. It’s a bit messy and chaotic, but it has a lot of sentimental meaning to me <3

My lovely collage wall.

Until next time,
