Today, I want to focus on the fun things students can do in the town of Wellesley. I feel like we spend a lot of time talking about going to Cambridge and Boston on the weekends; thus, I now want to highlight and recommend some things to do within the town of Wellesley!
Right outside the east side of campus is Wellesley, which we call the Ville; it is a street with boutiques and other small businesses. As a Wellesley student, you’ll become well acquainted with the Ville since it is next to campus and you walk through here to get to the commuter rail station to go into Boston.
There is an awesome bookstore in the Ville called Wellesley Books where I love perusing. Within the Ville area, there are also great restaurants to try. A few weeks ago, I had dinner at Fiorella’s Trattoria, an Italian restaurant that is about a five minutes walk from the campus’s exit. Totally recommend!
Another place in the Ville that students like is Rice Burg, a casual Asian restaurant. Back in senior year of high school when my parents and I visited campus for the first time, we actually ate lunch at Rice Burg. I would recommend their chicken katsu curry or scallion pancakes.
About a five to ten minute walk from campus is Linden Square, a shopping plaza. This area has Roche Bros, a Massachusetts-based grocery store chain, if you want to cook in your dorm kitchen and need groceries.
There is also a CVS to stock up on other essentials. Across the street is Tatte, a bakery-cafe chain in Boston. I went there last week to do some homework and tried their shakshuka. Their pastries are also delicioussss. Tatte can get pretty busy, but I would still recommend it as a fun study spot.
This next one is slightly cheating because it is in Natick, but I will count it anyway: Wellesley has a shuttle every Saturday for students to go to Natick Mall, AMC Movie Theater, and Target. I would recommend taking it and spending a Saturday strolling around Natick Mall with your friends.
Of course Wellesley and the surrounding area do not have quite as many fun things to do as Boston does; however, I still believe you can find interesting things to do. These are just my experiences so far. Additionally I am a student without a car on campus, which obviously affects where you go in your free time.
Thank you for reading!
