Re: Boston Women’s March for America
Date: January 17, 2017

Members of the Wellesley College community are proud to be joining the marches taking place around the country this weekend in order to draw attention to women’s issues.

Many of us are leaving campus Saturday morning and traveling together to join marchers in Boston; we invite all students, faculty, staff, and area alumnae to meet us there if you are able. The full details are below. (There will be marches across the country, so if you are not in our area, you can look for one near you.)

Need a Ride?
The College has arranged for a bus to bring members of the community to a designated meeting spot on the morning of the march. Space is limited and seating will be assigned on a first-come, first-served basis. You must register to get a seat on the bus. The cost per rider in each direction is one Senate Bus token ($3 each), which you can buy on the bus if you are registered.

The bus will depart from Houghton Chapel at 9:15 a.m. Riders are expected to be dropped off on Charles Street between Boylston and Beacon streets at about 10 a.m., from which they will make their way directly to the Wellesley meeting spot: the Swan Boats in the Public Garden.

Meet Us at the Swan Boats
If you are arranging your own transportation, we encourage you to meet us at the Swan Boats at 10:15 a.m. To show your Wellesley pride and to march in solidarity, you can wear one of the buttons the College will distribute to members of the Wellesley community at the meeting spot.

The march itself is scheduled to begin with speeches at 11 a.m. in the area of the Boston Common known as Carty Parade Ground (at the corner of Beacon and Charles streets). Organizers of the march have planned a one-mile route starting at 12 p.m. at the Common, going to Commonwealth Avenue, turning on Clarendon, and heading back to the Common.

For those who are able, we hope you can join us in this historic demonstration of women raising their voices at such a critical moment in time.
