Re: Your Role In the College’s Compliance with Title IX
Date: March 19, 2018

I am writing to remind you that Wellesley College faculty and staff are “Responsible Employees” for Title IX purposes. What this means is if you are made aware of sexual misconduct, (including sexual assault and harassment, relationship violence, or stalking) affecting any Wellesley College student or employee, this information must be provided to me, as the Title IX coordinator, in a timely fashion. I will then work with you to make sure we are providing appropriate care, including options, resources, and information. If you would like a more information about this requirement, feel free to watch this brief 3-minute training video, or complete the 45-minute online training available at the “Training” section of our Title IX website.

Please note that staff in the Stone Center, Health Services, and the Office of Religious and Spiritual Life are exempt from this requirement, and follow a different set of procedures upon receiving disclosures.

If a Wellesley College community member discloses information about sexual misconduct to you please remember these guidelines:

1. Care. Be compassionate. Listen, don’t judge, and avoid “why” questions. Ensure safety. Say upfront that you have to share the information with the Title IX coordinator.
2. Connect. Provide the resources and information available online at www.wellesley.edu/titleix and encourage the person to seek additional support.
3. Contact. Contact me, as the Title IX coordinator, right away by filling in the report form at www.wellesley.edu/titleix  or emailing me at janchond@wellesley.edu. Refrain from sharing the information with others unless you need to as part of the College’s response.

Those who are interested in further information may contact me to set up an in-person training or Q&A. Thank you for your understanding and flexibility as we work towards a safer and healthier campus.
