Re: News about Cameran Mason ’84
Date: April 20, 2018
It is with mixed emotions that I share the news that Cameran Mason ’84, Wellesley’s vice president for resources, will be leaving the College at the end of the academic year to become the chief development officer at the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston. I greatly appreciate the critical leadership role that Cameran has played at the College, and I know how much we will all miss her. We thank her for her dedicated service and many significant accomplishments, and we wish her well as she embarks on this exciting next step in her career.
Cameran returned to Wellesley in 2008 and since that time has served as a trusted member of the President’s Leadership Team, working to identify and advance key priorities of the College. Responsible for all areas of our fundraising, Cameran has led the planning and execution of Wellesley’s Campaign to Advance the Wellesley Effect, the largest fundraising effort to be undertaken by a women’s college, which will be nearing its $500 million goal this June, a full year ahead of schedule. While Cameran has engaged so effectively with top donors and alumnae—and secured the largest gift in the College’s history—she has always viewed the College’s campaign as a collaborative endeavor. Each member of her dedicated team has played an integral role in the management of this successful campaign, and last year, Wellesley received the 2017 CASE Educational Fundraising Award for overall performance, an honor that recognizes “superior fundraising programs at educational institutions across the country.”
After a decade of serving Wellesley, Cameran leaves the College in a very strong position and poised for future growth. In the next few months, we will initiate a search to find a new vice president to join us in writing the next exciting chapter of Wellesley’s future. We are in the process of identifying interim leadership for the Resources team to ensure a stable and effective fundraising organization during the transition.
I would like to extend to Cameran our deepest gratitude for the dedication, insight, and passion she has brought to her role at Wellesley. We will celebrate her in the weeks ahead, but in the meantime, please join me in wishing her all the best as she prepares to take on exciting new opportunities. Cameran will always be part of Wellesley, and we will count on her participation in the years ahead.
