Convocation, which will be held on Tuesday, September 4, marks the start of the academic year. I hope you will join your classmates, colleagues, and peers to celebrate the beginning of our year and to welcome the community back to Wellesley.

Convocation will begin with a festive reception accompanied by the carillon on the Academic Quad at 3:45 p.m. Faculty, staff, and seniors: come wearing your academic gowns if possible. (Caps are not needed.)

All underclass students who attend are invited to process, along with faculty, staff and seniors. Wear your class colors if possible. First-years, sophomores, and juniors will process by residence hall.

We will begin lining up for the procession at 4:05 p.m.  Faculty and staff will line up in a double line on the lawn on the south side of the Quad (overlooking Jewett Road), with the head of the line facing Jewett, and seniors will form a double line next to the faculty and staff line.  All other students will line up according to residence hall (look for the gonfalons). The procession to the Hay Outdoor Theater will depart promptly at 4:15 p.m.

Step Singing takes place in the theater immediately following the convocation ceremony.

I look forward to seeing you at this special event.
