Dear Wellesley community,
Recent news reports revealed a proposed federal policy that would erase the definition of gender, as we know it today, including transgender and other nonbinary gender identities. This proposed policy would not only seek to erase the identity and restrict the rights of transgender and other nonbinary gender identifying people but is also in direct opposition to what is considered accurate science.
I want to reaffirm the College’s strongly held commitment to the basic human rights, dignity, and well-being of all Wellesley transgender and gender nonbinary community members. We will continue to vigorously enforce our campus nondiscrimination policy, which prohibits discrimination of any kind, including on the basis of gender identity and expression.
We are a community that deeply values diversity, embraces our individual differences, and continues the work that will allow all our members to live free from discrimination.
