Re: Important Safety Reminder
Date: October 16, 2020

Over the course of this semester a woman who has no affiliation to Wellesley College and has been posing as a student and using College resources has come onto our campus on three separate occasions.

Earlier today, there was a report that this same person may have entered McAfee Hall and then the Bates dining hall.

Campus Police responded and notified the Office of Residential Life and Housing. Together with residential life staff, officers canvassed Bates, McAfee, and Freeman residence halls to try to locate this person. She was not located. Campus Police have been directed to continue patrols and be on the lookout for the person fitting this description.

Your safety is our priority. As a community, we cannot allow persons onto our campus and into your living spaces who do not belong here.

While Campus Police should not be called for non-emergency matters (such as lockouts), it is important to call Campus Police for incidents such as a stranger on our campus. This is especially true during the pandemic.

Please consider these safety tips:

  • Call Campus Police at 781.283.2121 or 781.283.5555 to report suspicious activity or a suspicious person;
  • Never let somebody into a residence hall or allow them to “piggy back” into a hall when you swipe in;
  • Keep your doors locked and your belongings secured;
  • If you lose your OneCard let Campus Police know immediately and make sure to get a new card; and
  • Try to walk in groups (while maintaining proper social distancing and masking guidelines).

If you have not done so already, please be sure to program the Campus Police phone numbers into your mobile phone.

Thank you. We at Campus Police wish you well as you head into finals.
