Re: Join Me This Evening for a Community Webinar about the Historic Election Results
Date: November 9, 2020
Tonight, at 6 p.m. EST, I invite all members of our community—Wellesley students, faculty, staff, and alumnae—to join a special webinar in celebration of this weekend’s historic election of our nation’s first woman vice president.
This panel-style community conversation, originally scheduled for last Saturday but postponed when the election result remained unclear, will include Teran Chapis ’22, chair of the Committee for Political and Legislative Awareness, Tatiana Ivy Moise ’21, College Government president, Michael Jeffries, dean of academic affairs and associate professor of American studies, and Kellie Carter Jackson, assistant professor of Africana studies. We are also thrilled to be joined by GBH host and producer Callie Crossley ’73.
The panelists will reflect upon the historic result of the 2020 presidential election, invite questions from the community, and discuss where to go from here. Please register to receive the webinar link and passcode.
As I mentioned in my letter on Saturday, this election reminded me yet again how proud I am of this community, whose work mobilizing, organizing, and getting out the vote—amid a pandemic, no less—contributed to what ended up being the largest turnout for an American presidential election in our country’s history. I hope you will join me this evening to mark this moment as a community.
