Re: No Immediate Changes to Health and Safety in Response to CDC Guidance
Date: May 14, 2021

Yesterday the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) issued new guidance for people who are fully vaccinated against COVID-19.

I have reviewed the CDC’s guidance carefully and strongly believe it is premature. For a residential community like Wellesley, there is no way to effectively enforce this guidance on our campus. Therefore, we will not be making any changes to our health and safety protocols until after the end of the academic year. All members of our community are required to wear masks and observe physical distancing and our guidance on commencement will stay the same.

We are almost to the end of the term. Let’s finish this the way we started—putting health and safety first and working together to protect our community.
