Re: Introducing the New Director of Nondiscrimination Initiatives and Title IX/504 Coordinator
Date: September 22, 2022

I am delighted to announce that Justin Bell will be joining Wellesley College next week as our director of nondiscrimination initiatives: Title IX coordinator and ADA/Section 504 coordinator. Justin will also be supporting the Olin College of Engineering in a similar role.

Justin brings a wealth of experience and enthusiasm to these roles. Most recently, he served as executive director of equal opportunity programs and Title IX compliance at the University of Hartford, where he was responsible for leading, coordinating, and overseeing the university’s compliance with federal and state nondiscrimination laws, regulations, and policies. He managed the university’s response to sexual misconduct and other discrimination, harassment, and retaliation matters, including investigations, resolution processes, and training of students, faculty, and staff. Justin also served as the university’s designated appeals officer for challenges to ADA accommodation decisions.

Previously, Justin served as associate athletic director at Fairfield University and at the University of Hartford, and as assistant director for compliance and student-athlete welfare at Northeastern University. During his career in athletics compliance, Justin oversaw NCAA and other athletics compliance issues and served as the department liaison to campus offices including Title IX, admission, financial aid, residence life, student affairs, and international students.

Justin earned a B.S. in sports management in 2008 from the University of Massachusetts Amherst, where he completed an Isenberg School of Management Honors Thesis as part of the Commonwealth Honors College. He graduated from the Wake Forest University School of Law in 2012.

Please join me in welcoming Justin Bell to the Wellesley College community.

As a reminder, Wellesley College remains committed to providing a safe environment that is free from discrimination and harassment for our students, faculty, and staff. The College does not tolerate sexual harassment, and we take any accusations of this or any other discriminatory or harassing conduct very seriously. Justin will oversee Wellesley’s compliance with our sexual misconduct policy, our policy against unlawful discrimination, harassment, and retaliation, and our ADA/Section 504 grievance process. If you have any questions about these policies and procedures or concerns arising under these policies, please contact Justin at titleix@wellesley.edu or 781-283-2451.
