Dear students,

Have you seen them? The “Deans on the go? “ During February, the Class Deans have picked a few days and times to be out around campus to meet and chat with students. The next one is scheduled for next Thursday, February 23rd, in LuLu at 1 pm. Swing by to introduce yourself and meet the Class Deans.

Here are some important academic deadlines. Please take care to review them.

Drop Deadline
The last day to drop a course is TODAY-Friday, February 17th at 11:59 pm. Please remember that you should be enrolled in at least 3 units to maintain full-time status. If you drop a course, you will be unable to add another course.

Grading Basis (Credit/non-credit vs. Graded) Deadline
Please check the grading basis for all of your courses. Please be sure you understand the policy related to Credit/Non-Credit. The deadline to change the grading basis for any of your courses is also today, February 17th at 11:59 pm.

As a reminder, it is your responsibility to be aware of all important dates and deadlines posted on the Academic Calendar. Please be sure to bookmark this page and add the calendar to your Google Calendar.

Health updates: By now you have noticed that remarkable aspect of living at a college in New England – every day the weather is different! It might be warm outside today and yet, it may be cold again in the very near future. This matters because germs can travel in those moments when you least expect it.  While our Covid numbers remain low, the number of students who have chosen to Covid test is also low. The testing resource is here at the College club, and you do not have to be symptomatic to avail yourself of this resource.

I’ve also heard that the norovirus is making its way around Massachusetts, though we have not yet seen any cases on campus.  It is highly contagious.  Symptoms are stomach cramping, diarrhea and vomiting.  Proper hygiene and hand washing is essential to help prevent the spread.  We are communicating this to our dining staff along with changing service utensils every 1/2 hour.  Please remember to wash your hands frequently and especially prior to entering the dining halls. And if you feel these symptoms, please contact health services.

Community Engagement:
Are you excited about TedXWellesley but didn’t get a ticket?  Amazingly tickets sold out within minutes of release.  You heard it first here- the TedXWellesley planning team is offering a simulcast event in Collins at the same time. Tickets are again limited to 100, so please reserve your seat here

Nominations for the 2023 Camellia Student Leadership Awards are now open. The awards honor students who demonstrate exemplary leadership through active and sustained engagement on campus and in the broader community. We will welcome nominations for this year’s awards until April 2. The campus community is welcome to join us as we celebrate our nominees and recipients on Tuesday, May 2, with an awards ceremony in the Alumnae Ballroom followed by an outdoor reception.

The WC-connect retreat is back!  WC-connect is a retreat program created to foster community and help first year students reflect on who they want to become, as they build meaningful connections during their first year. This overnight retreat comes mid semester when students can benefit from time away to pause and review their college experience so far. First year students are nominated for this retreat by student life staff. If you get invited, please say yes! And if you would like to nominate yourself, please reach out to me or a member of the residence life team.

Need a free ride into the town of Wellesley during the week? Be sure to check out the Catch-Connect transportation service.  You can use this transportation service to get to doctors appointments, run errands, grab a bite, etc.

Finally, Black History is more than a month. I hope that you will take advantage to expand your knowledge and reflect on the contributions of African Americans this February and beyond.
