Re: Marathon Monday 2024
Date: April 12, 2024
The 128th Boston Marathon will take place on Monday, April 15, 2024. The marathon is always a great day at Wellesley College and we hope everyone takes some time out of their busy schedules to enjoy the event. The main road, Central Street, will be closed to the public at 8 a.m. The west side of campus, beyond the entrance to the Lulu Chow Wang Campus Center, will be closed for the duration of the event. The Waze app that is used to provide navigation is up to date to include the street closures. Please consider using the app as a resource to move about that day. The campus will be busy and below are some tips that we encourage you to follow.
If you plan on attending the events, please remember:
-
Avoid bringing large bags/backpacks to the marathon route and do not leave any bags/backpacks or belongings unattended at any time.
-
Be alert and aware of your surroundings.
-
If you see something—say something. Call the Wellesley College Police and Public Safety Department (WCPPS) emergency line at 781-283-5555 to report emergencies or incidents that seem suspicious in nature.
-
Do not allow unauthorized individuals into residence halls and do not prop any doors.
-
If you or someone you observe needs medical attention, you should go immediately to the Davis Museum parking lot and/or contact WCPPS. There will be personnel at that location to provide medical assistance.
-
If you find that you need assistance, there will be public safety officers throughout campus and along the parade route during this event.
-
Refrain from public drinking and open containers. Both are in violation of Massachusetts General Law. Be careful with consumption and stay hydrated throughout the day.
-
If traveling into Boston, it is recommended that you take the MBTA. Also, Boston Police reports to be careful with drinks. They have seen incidents of drink spiking.
-
If you need general information, call the WCPPS non-emergency line at 781-283-2121.
-
Please visit BAA.org to view the full list of spectator guidelines.
General event information:
-
All community members and guests that are coming to campus should park in the Davis Parking Facility.
-
Do not park in front of residence halls, the KSC Field House, Alumnae Circle, the Davis Lot in front of WCPPS, in fire lanes or any other prohibited areas during this busy time on campus.
Enjoy the day and be safe!
