Re: News about our director of public safety and chief of campus police
Date: January 28, 2025

I’m pleased to announce that Kenneth Ferguson will serve as Wellesley’s next director of public safety and chief of campus police. Ken came to Wellesley from Brandeis University, and has acted as deputy chief since September. He was selected following a national search.

Ken’s experience in public service spans nearly 40 years, including 33 years in Framingham, Mass., where he was the deputy chief and then chief of police. In those roles, Ken led the development of a professional standards bureau for the department, created an evidence-based public safety and mental health partnership, and strengthened communications and the department’s relationships within the community, among other initiatives.

Ken holds two master’s degrees, one in public administration from Framingham State University and one in criminal justice administration from Western New England University.

I want to thank everyone on the search committee for their service in this critical work.

Please join me in congratulating Chief Ferguson and wishing him continued success at Wellesley.
