Re: No classes today—it’s Lake Day!
Date: September 28, 2022

Lake Day began as a tradition in the early 1980s as a spontaneous day without classes. Its purpose was to allow students a day of recreation to enjoy the campus and time with their fellow students. In the years that followed, Lake Day transitioned from a day off from classes to a student celebration with fun activities during community time—a tradition that many of our current students have experienced in the last few years.

Today, I am delighted to share that we are returning to the former Lake Day tradition as a day without classes. There will be no classes held today. We hope that students will take advantage of the day to recharge, spend time with friends, and enjoy the beautiful autumn weather. Spend time outdoors on our wonderful campus, or head to Boston to explore; or relax, nap, read a book—whatever creates joy and allows you to slow down and enjoy the beauty of the day.

Students are also invited down to Severance Green from 4:00-6:00 p.m. The Schneider Board of Governors will have carnival rides and lawn games, an interactive photo booth, and snacks. In addition to SBOG’s programming, Health Services will be providing free flu shots, Paulson will be Painting by the Lake on Green Beach, and there will be informational tables across the event from Wellness, the Alumnae Association and PERA.

Happy Lake Day!
