Re: Online personal emergency preparedness training
Date: November 30, 2023
The College is now offering faculty and staff the opportunity to take part in an online training program that helps individuals be better prepared in the event of a violent incident or threat on our campus. The nationally recognized program, called ALICE (Alert, Lockdown, Inform, Counter, Evacuate), is used by hundreds of organizations and communities.
The program the College is providing, ALICE for Higher Education, has been developed especially for colleges and universities. The lessons on personal preparedness are useful for a wide range of situations you may encounter, both on and off campus. The training has not been specifically tailored to Wellesley, however, so not all of the strategies recommended will apply to your individual circumstances.
We encourage all faculty and staff to take advantage of this program.
The ALICE training begins with a pretest used to gauge existing knowledge (don’t worry if you don’t know the answers) followed by a series of modules, each concluding with a quiz, similar in format to the College’s cybersecurity training. The training will take approximately 45 to 60 minutes.
You can locate this training in Workday Learning by clicking on the navigation menu at the top left of the Workday screen. Log into Workday, click on “Menu” on the top left, then click on “Learning,” and the ALICE training module will appear. (Learn more.) We are working with union managers to offer opportunities to view the training as a group.
This is only one component of the College’s overall emergency preparedness planning. (About 60 members of our community who have been designated to serve in key roles in the College’s emergency preparedness planning and response will be participating in additional training next week.) We look forward to sharing more information with you in the coming months.
