Re: Convocation: Tuesday, September 3
Date: August 30, 2024
The College will hold convocation on Tuesday, September 3, marking the start of the academic year. I hope you will join your classmates, colleagues, and peers to celebrate the beginning of our year and to welcome the community back to Wellesley.
Convocation will begin with a gathering on the Campus Center Event Lawn at 4:15 p.m. The current forecast calls for warm weather, so please bring your filled water bottles. Faculty and staff: Come wearing your academic gowns if possible. (Caps are not needed.) Seniors, we look forward to seeing you in your festive green attire or in academic gowns. No caps needed. All underclass students who attend, please wear your class colors if possible.
Class of 2025 and faculty/staff members processing will begin lining up on the Campus Center Event Lawn at 4:35 p.m. The procession will depart promptly at 4:40 p.m.
Faculty and staff will form a double line starting at the fire pit and wind back toward the Physical Plant Building. The Class of 2025 will form a double line starting at the fire pit and winding back toward the lowest level of the garage.
Class of 2026, 2027, and 2028, as well as other community members, may proceed to the Hay Outdoor Theater and find a seat in the last two rows or on the terrace. Seating in the main portion of the theater is reserved for the seniors, faculty, and staff who are processing.
In the interest of making convocation more sustainable, we are asking faculty, staff, and students to download the digital convocation program in advance.
Stepsinging will take place in the theater immediately following the convocation ceremony.
In the event of inclement weather, I will write with an update on Tuesday.
I look forward to seeing you at this special event.
