Wellesley Patch helps us celebrate the holiday season

Wellesley Chamber Music Society student plays the flute

The Wellesley Patch just wrote this great post about ways to celebrate the holiday season at Wellesley:

Here are a few holiday-tinged performances (and more!) taking place in Wellesley:

The Chamber Music Society will host a performance Wednesday, Dec. 7 at 12:30 p.m. in the Jewett Auditorium. The Wellesley Fall Arts Calendar has more information.

“Parrandas,” Dec. 7, 5-7 pm, Tischman Commons (LWC-105), first floor of the Lulu Chow Wang Student Center (directly across from free visitor parking) on the Wellesley College campus. A Latino celebration of the winter holidays. The band “Conjunto Raices” (salsa) will play and students will give short talks about their cultural celebrations. Everyone is invited attend and to join in the song, dance and celebration. Foods representative of countries throughout the Caribbean will be served. Knowledge of Spanish is “in no way required.” Free and open to the public.

The Aviv String Quartet will preform on campus at the Houghton Chapel on Dec. 10, at 8 PM. The quartet has given critically-acclaimed performances worldwide at venues including the Kennedy Center, the Library of Congress, the Sydney Opera House and Palais de Beaux in Brussels. The Wellesley program will feature Schulhoff No. 1, Mendelssohn Op. 80 and Tchaikovsky Op. 33 No. 3. Free and open to the public.

“Season’s Greetings,” Jan. 5-29, A dark, yet farcical comedy about families doing what they do best at the holidays: inadvertently making each other crazy. Please see the Wellesley Fall Arts Calendar page 23, first column, for a complete description, including dates and show times. $20 general admission, $10 for seniors and students.
