  • Be The Match Bone Marrow Registry Drive | 11:00 am-3:00 pm | Anderson Forum This month, Fusion and Blue Cancer Society are joining forces to host a bone marrow registry drive on campus, with the goal to add more people to the National Marrow Donor Program. Currently, 70% of patients needing a bone marrow transplant for cancer treatment and other diseases use the registry to find a match. However, less than 30% of donors on the registry are of Latino, African-American, Asian, Native American, or mixed race. This means that minorities only have 66-82% chance of finding a match, and mixed race patients have less than 0.01% chance of finding a match. Fusion and the Blue Cancer Society are hoping to expand the diversity and scope of the registry by encouraging Wellesley students to get involved. Joining the registry takes less than 10 minutes, and only requires a cheek swab. It’s painless and quick, and could help save a life.
