Top 5 Tips for Juniors Planning to Study Abroad

You’re a Junior and you’re either abroad or planning to go abroad next semester — what do you do? There are many ways to stay connected to the Center for Work and Service, on and off campus. Below are the top 5 things Juniors can do to stay connected:

  • Skype/Google/telephone: You can still make an appointment with a CWS counselor even if you are thousands of miles away. Just remember that all appointments are in Eastern Standard Time (EST).
  • Deadlines: Take a look at some of our events and programming and make sure you mark your calendar so you don’t miss anything important.
  • Social media: Stay connected to our blog, Facebook, and Twitter pages. We constantly update these sources of information with relevant articles and tips for students.
  • Check-in before you leave: if you are planning to be off campus in the spring, make sure you come and see us in the fall to make sure you’re all set during your time abroad.
  • Network!: Students always ask, “How can I find an internship abroad?” The best way is to get involved with local organizations and/or groups that interest you. This involvement builds your professional network and may be the first step to landing that international internship. This is the best way to plan for an international internship between your junior and senior years.
