Week 6: Prions and Music

The way amino acids are connected through a chemical reaction was very interesting to me. I aimed to represent the peptide bond that connects them through that chemical reaction as the short and repeated pattern, which breaks the seemingly continuous sound that appears as background noise. While that ‘background’ noise was actually the original ‘raw data’ that I transformed into sounds, I think the continuity of protein bonds is well represented in this short sequence of sounds.
It is effective in the way that it could be repeated infinitely. Without changing much to the structure, you can see the pattern repeating itself just like the peptide bonds are constantly created in amino acids to create a desired structure, producing a polypeptide.
The continuity of this sequence of sounds, despite being quite irregular and not typically pleasant evokes the continuity and repetition that is found in animal proteins.
