Prions and Art

PrPC to PrPSc   This is the PrPC to PrPSc. The painting depicts normal prions becoming infected by abnormal prions. For example, on the bottom right one can see an abormal prion using its tentacles to infect the normal prions in the middle, left side (darker colored). the abnormal prions also have black dots in the center symbolizing their infection. Around the picture one can see various twirling objects as well. These depict a-helixes.

In addition, I also painted a prion H3 helical wheel. this shows the charged, polar, hydrophilic, and buried aspects of a prion protein as well as the helical forms of the amino acids involved in the prion. I found the helical wheel here: http://www.mad-cow.org/helical_wheel.html
