In high school, I always found it difficult to visualize chemical reactions. This past week, we were able to create proteins using very small models and for me, everything made complete sense. It was a great moment of realization and understanding.
Earlier, I had done a lot of art research while thinking of what piece to discuss in my midterm. There was one physics-based piece that, to me, is absolutely striking. The reason I didn’t choose this work of art was because the artist, Gerry Judah, had no real scientific intent behind it. However, from a physicist’s perspective, one could take the piece as an expression of the amazing downforce produced by Formula 1 cars. Either way, it’s an incredible sculpture. (link below)

I completely agree! I think that it has been really educational taking a hands-on approach to chemistry; something that I have previously never done.
I also was fascinated by how many artists use biology/chemistry in their work! I find it amazing that they find inspiration in such a way and how powerful their pieces are in the end. For example, for my midterm essay, I chose an artist who re-created organs from flowers. In theory, this sounds like it would be something very boring or uninteresting to look at. However, the end-result was really amazing and the pieces were truly pieces of art.
