Its strange to see the semester and this class coming to an end. All the hard work we all put into our projects, all the guest speakers, and all the fun art work we’ve done has made this a great experience. Seeing all our work be condensed in these last few weeks has been strange and exciting, and presenting at Ruhlman was an experience in itself. Seeing everyones project on neurotransmitters coming together was fun, especially Adreline’s amazing video! I’m so happy my group worked together efficiently, and that our projects complemented each other nicely. It was great to see that our efforts combined into a cohesive and complementary presentation of Dopamine.
The final class was also lovely. It was so nice to have ice cream with everyone as we reflected back on how our knowledge and impressions of science and art has changed over the semester. Thinking back on when I first did the survey, I was very under-appreciative of scientific processes and ways of thinking. During this course I have truly gained a new appreciation (and understanding) of how interdisciplinary approaches to science and art may create new paths of knowledge and communication.
Today, attending the presentations of the biochem class I also understood how incredibly much I still don’t know or have the facility to understand, even after this course. As I have been approaching science through art this semester it was interesting to see the biochem class tackle art through science with their interactive presentations and the wonderful song.
In conclusion, I am sad to see the semester coming to an end, even if I am excited to return home for summer. As someone who is passionate about art I am happy that I have gained a new gateway to science; a topic I previously found difficult and inaccessible. I look forward to using my experience in this course to approach my future courses with an interdisciplinary focus.
