Even though I was not able to come to class to hear the lecture on music, I found it very interesting to incorporate the sequence of PrPSc into a song. I created a song on Finale Notepad (a music software that lets you input notes and create a score). The song I composed is based on the given website (http://www.whozoo.org/mac/Music/prion.htm). I took the letters from the alphabet and matched them in order with A, B, C, D, E, F, and G notes, then put them into the score of the music based on the sequence (see note order, sequence, and score below).
The PrPSc, a chaotic prion variant, can produce beautiful music if given the chance. The song that I put together, with help from a music-creating software, also represents the mis-folding that occurs when PrPC transforms into PrPSc.
To be able to take a sequence generated by nature and create music out of it without much alteration is incredible. Even though some parts may not be very pleasant to the ear, the notes and patterns can still be very beautiful. This shows that nature can even create some perfect harmonies (with little manipulation) through prion sequences.
