Introduction

Hi My name is Zainab! I’m a senior double majoring in Women and Gender Studies and Psychology. I think my combination of majors is telling of my thinking process and is a really interesting combination that overlaps more than one would think. In the future, I would like to use this combined knowledge to become a Speech Therapist and help young children with speech or confidence problems, specifically children who are disabled.

One interesting thing to know about me is that I work at Mail Services and I love my job! At Mail Services one consumer product we use very often is a two-wheeler. Some may call it a dolly, hand cart, or hand truck. I admire this product for its simplicity. The two-wheeler is designed to help move a heavy object from one place to another. It has an easy to grab handle, a small yet sturdy base, and a small bar for your foot to create a lever system, and it has two wheels to help you move the object of your desire easily. As someone who spends their day moving boxes and assisting other students in doing so, I think the two-wheeler is an ingenious invention that I couldn’t work without. This being said, there are many user issues with this product.

New users often have problems with understanding how to use the two-wheeler automatically and struggle with the design.   A decent two-wheeler costs upward of $100, in this way I consider this product very sustainable although it isn’t very accessible because it is a bit expensive for a product you might not use very often.

The two-wheeler is made of metal and rubber for the tires, materials that are very sturdy and can stand the wear of heavy lifting. I would guess that there are at least 6 different parts, such as the handle, the base, the wheels. the adjustable back brace, the foot bar, and the mid section bars.

  1. So glad to have you in class and I hope the content will feel linked to your majors … I think they are. Glad you thought about the part count … as you’ll see in the class, I expect it’s quite a bit higher (very few products of this size/complexity have only 6 parts).
