Hello, my name is Susanna! I am a Spanish major here at Wellesley and I am taking this class to fulfill my Mathematical Modeling requirement. Something interesting about me is that I play the saxophone! My object is a Samsung Galaxy cellphone (Model J36V):
The design of this cell phone is fairly universal, and I like that the touch screen is fairly interactive yet not too sensitive. It’s also pretty durable, especially compared to a lot of iphones – and also sustainable since I’ve had it for a long time. For such a technologically complex product the product design is fairly simple, and certain aspects of the phone, such as the flashlight, the camera, and the speakers are easily identifiable. The thing that interests me most about that cellphone is that even though it is made out of many parts (sim card, battery, camera, etc.) it is still very compact and easy to hold.
Welcome to class, it’s great to have you. I agree that the product design feels simple … I encourage you to think if it really is simple, or if that’s deceptive. It’s also worth considering if it’s universally simple … are there folks who find smartphones confounding?
