Nov. 6th Accomplishments

Today while the other groups were at CRI, our team (Ropah, Dara, and myself) worked on our project! We reflected on our meeting with Madi and also played with how her vision will actualize. Our biggest task is to make sure that we have 20 inches of adjustability, given she suggested it should be 28 inches at its minimum and 48 at its maximum.

We went to Larry to discuss how he would envision us adding a pole to increase the height. We browsed McMaster, but Ropah and Dara found a pipe that slides into the pink base of the scooter part. We decided that with this piece, we should connect another scooter top to the bottom of the new tubing, allowing for adjustability on the top and bottom. While we’re not sure this would be 20 inches of adjustability, we know it is closer than what we have right now. Larry also taught us how to make tube sketches, making sure we know what the insides would look like. We also talked about clamps and how to secure these tubes– specifically with pipe clamps.

We’re also debating our base mechanism, given that we want to respect what Madi wants, but also thinking about how a base could allow for stability. Right now we have our wooden base with wheels still on it, but she suggested maybe using a stake instead of a mobile base.

Overall, we’re really excited to move forward with these new ideas. Both Madi and Larry gave us really helpful insight as to how we can better our project and it’ll be amazing to see the final product.
