Week 4: Reflections

Team members: Chelsie, Micah, Selina

Last Wednesday, our group sat down to reassess our audience and what our next steps moving forward would be. Our meeting with Madi the week prior encouraged us to try to adapt our bow stand for children who could not hold the bow at all and to consider what our model would look like in an outdoor setting. These variables, however, led us to brainstorming two different stands and considering starting all over again. Given the nature of this class (semester-long) and the number of weeks left, we had to talk through our goals, interests, and the feasibility of the project (outdoor vs. indoor; children who can hold the bow vs. children who cannot hold the bow at all). In the end, we decided to keep our (indoor) model and design for both groups of children.

This past week, we designed a hook/clamp from which the bow would hang from the rope. We also worked on adapting our stand for children who would not be able to hold the bow at all by adding a metal bar. Our prototype worked well for both audiences, so, by the end of class on Friday, we ordered metal parts to assemble our final product.

Our goals moving forward are to fine tune our stand and to consider what base we would use for our model.
