Archery Stand Week 6 Update

Today, 11/20, our team made really cool progress. There was lots of discussions and a lot of “what-if” considerations. We finally ordered our more secure clamp called the “Rhino clamp,” in addition to talking about our base. Larry gave us a bigger piece of wood to use that’s 24×16 inches, which we feel will create more stability given the force of the shot arrow. We also increased the size of the pole in the middle of the two scooters (aka: the pole in between the pink parts). This gave us the exact height we wanted, with 36inches to the grip of the bow at minimum and roughly 47 at maximum.

We also discussed how to secure the pipe to the wooden base, which will be hard to do given that there are no exact flanges that meet our diameter. We’re excited that Larry will be making our part for us, and it’ll ensure we have a secure way to have the device attached to the base.

We reflected on Madi’s feedback about not having the cam hit the handle of the scooter, and decided that if the clamp is strong enough, we don’t need to have the bow hanging from the handle. If we still feel it’s the best mechanism for double support in holding the bow, then we can attach Tac on the bow before the cam to make sure the two pieces do not touch.

Below is a picture of our new clamp that will hopefully arrive on Friday! It should hopefully attach to around where the “R” or “A” in Razor are on the highest pink part of the scooter.
