Physics of Rowing

After reading the physics of sports articles about rowing, I learned a lot about the actual physics behind what moves the boat. From a former rower’s perspective I never saw the actual physics behind how a boat moves, but all you really know is that there are conditions that make it harder for you and your crew to move the boat. I understood the drag of the shell and the balance of the boat, however it was interesting to see the kinetic energy calculations of the boat moving. One question I had was that it does not mention anything about para-rowing. How do you recalibrate the calculations and formals to take into account the different center of gravities and force the para rowers put into their stroke? There are so many factors that change for para rowers and I wish that this was specific to para-rowing so we can understand how the overall experience is different.
