Week 2: Functioning Prototype

Group: Hillary, Lizzy, Stephanie – Week 2: Functioning Prototype

In order to see how this would work, our group needed to test out our initial prototype on an actual boat. This started the many trips to Butler Boathouse where Lizzy hopped the fence to test out our prototype on singles on the boat rack. Now that everyone understands that the boat is solid on both ends, we had to figure out the optimal place to suction on the boat.

Once we got to the boathouse, Lizzy tested our prototype on a boat outside. The challenge here was to see if there was a flat surface for the suctions to function properly. There is a slight curvature to the boat which makes it difficult ALSO depending on weather conditions for the suctions to work (i.e wet surface because of rain or just off the water or frost)

The boat is secure on Lizzy’s shoulder just using the strap and the suction. I was really shocked by this because it just seems almost *too* simple. Nevertheless, there are still improvements to be made.
