Group: Hillary, Lizzy, Stephanie – Week 3: Adaptions
A main problem with our prototype is the ease at which a person can adjust it on their body. We ordered new straps that had a seatbelt like buckle similar to ones that are on airplanes. However, the suction cups proved to be ineffective in more weather conditions such as wind and the force of walking which can cause them to pop off the boat. Not good. We also glued a foam pad on the part that goes underneath your armpit for user comfort. Here is Lizzy with the prototype and boat:
Given that the suction cups would not reliably work, I had the idea that instead of using suction cups, we should have something that can stick to the circumference of the boat. This would offer a larger point of contact which would mean more stability to the user and the boat for balance. The foam circle would be on the inside of the strap and would go on your shoulder. Here is a photo of what I mean:
We have more items we ordered to test out with our prototype. Excited to see if they will work with the new loop idea we have pictured.
