Based on suggestions that we received from the community, we have redesigned the course browser. We are releasing it to the community to receive feedback. The new course browser can be accessed at: https://webapps.wellesley.edu/new_course_browser. We would very much like you to help test it and provide suggestions through the feedback link. We will consider the suggestions and make improvements based on those in a timely manner. This will replace the current course browser on August 24th. Here are some of the highlights of the new browser:

  • It is built on responsive design to make it perform well on mobile devices as well as laptop and desktops.
  • When it opens up, featured courses with descriptions are shown. Two randomly chosen featured courses are shown when you open the course browser or refresh the page with course description for the users to know about courses that they otherwise may not have known about. On a mobile device, only one featured course is shown. You can hid this for a period of five minutes.
  • The default version is intended for a wider audience, so it does not show all information about the course.
  • Logging into the course browser provides a more complete experience and new features, so we strongly suggest that you login first. We will integrate this with the portal, so that when you enter it from the portal, a second login will be unnecessary.
When you are logged in, you will get all the details that you are used to seeing in the current browser.
  • We now provide a way for you to “Favorite” courses by clicking on the star. This personalized list of favorite courses can be accessed by clicking on “My Favorites” at the top of the course browser. We intend to provide a direct link to it in the portal.
  • An improved keywords search.

Before the release on Aug 24, we intend to implement a way for users to share their favorite courses with others in the community as well as provide a way for anyone to share courses in social media through social media links.

We hope you like the new course browser and take the time to provide us suggestions to improve it.
