Davis and Tyler Summer Russian Scholarships

Thanks to the Maria Opasnov Tyler ’52 Fund and Kathryn W. Davis ’28 Russian Area Studies Fund, a limited number of scholarships for the study of Russian and other Slavic languages this summer is available to qualified Wellesley students. Scholarships will be awarded based on applicants’ promise in the field and commitment to continuing their study of Russian at Wellesley after summer study is completed. Only students who have already been accepted by a summer program approved by the chair of the Russian Department may apply for Summer Scholarships. We especially recommend the Middlebury Russian School; see also the dated but helpful lists of summer programs maintained by AATSEEL. A student may receive a Summer Scholarship award only once during that student’s undergraduate career at Wellesley, and graduating seniors who will not be returning to Wellesley after summer school are normally not eligible.

Applications are due to the department chair by 4:30 p.m. on the first Tuesday in April. Russian and Russian Area Studies faculty will evaluate the applications. Applicants will normally be notified of results by one week after the application deadline. See all application details on our intranet site. If you have questions, please e-mail the department chair.
