Heat in Pendleton Hall on December 12

At 6:00AM on Saturday, December 12, the steam line that provides heat for Pendleton Hall will be shut down. The shutdown is required in order to allow for work connected with the Pendleton Hall West Renovation and Addition Project to be completed. As a result occupants of Pendleton Hall can expect to experience lower than normal temperatures throughout the day Saturday. The heat will be restored to normal service by 4:00PM.  We apologize for any inconvenience this event may cause.

Road Excavation Near the Davis Parking Lot Planned for Tuesday

A portion of the service road that lies between the Power Plant and the Davis Museum will be closed from 5 a.m. to 8 a.m. on Tuesday, August 4, to enable road excavation work at the entrance of the Davis Museum parking lot. The roadwork is part of the Pendleton West renovation project. After 8 a.m., and until approximately 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday, one lane will be open to vehicles. Access for emergency vehicles will be maintained throughout the day and pedestrians will be able to walk across the road. A police detail will be on site for safety and to manage the flow of traffic.

Walkway Between Pendleton West and Jewett Closed Next Week

PNW_JAC walkway closedNext week, June 23-27, the pathway from the Jewett Arts Center parking lot up the hill to the Quad, as well as the walkway from the Pendleton West loading dock to the Quad, will be closed to pedestrians. We need to close these paths for the week so that preliminary geotechnology work can be performed in the sloped area where Pendleton West and the Jewett Arts Center meet. This work must be done in anticipation of the renovations to Pendleton West, which are scheduled to begin next summer.

Work Nears Completion in Schneider

The historic Schneider Center is coming alive once again. Visible from the outside are new windows, a new front entrance vestibule, repointed brick, and a first floor extension area in the back that has been enclosed and clad in copper.

SchneiderWork051414Soon you’ll also be able to see how the inside has been transformed, with original architectural details restored, thanks to the yearlong renovations that are about to be completed—on time and on budget.

Beginning June 9, the student-centered offices that will be housed in Schneider will move to their new location. This includes:

  • Student Financial Services
  • Registrar
  • Class Deans
  • International Study
  • Students’ Aid Society
  • Housing and Transportation

By mid-June, the Schneider Center will be open and fully functioning, representing an important new way of organizing administrative offices to better serve Wellesley students and the College community. Additionally, when students return to campus in the fall, the already vibrant neighborhood around Schneider will become all the more so—with opportunities to build on adjacencies with the programs and offices in nearby Billings, Clapp Library, the Chapel and Multifaith Center, Slater, CE House, and Harambee House.

Will you be on campus this summer? Come by and see the beautifully renovated building and new office spaces. Otherwise, we look forward to celebrating the re-opening of Schneider with a community gathering at the start of the fall semester.
