Speaker: Jonathan Kramnick

Jonathan Kramnick is the Maynard Mack Professor of English and Director of Graduate Studies at Yale University. His teaching and research are in the foundations of literary criticism and theory, eighteenth-century literature, and interdisciplinary approaches to the arts. He has written extensively about the role of English and other humanities fields in a multi-disciplinary university. His most recent book, Criticism and Truth: On Method in Literary Studies (Chicago, 2023), is an attempt to describe how the study of literature is a discipline of knowledge and provides truths about the world.
